"Four Corners" Drill

This drill comes from Dan Reisenbigler our October 2002 Drill of the Month Winner.

This drill is great for indoor or outdoor practice.

Divide the team into four groups covering home plate and all three bases. The coach, standing to the right of home plate hits a grounder to the player at third base. They field the ball and then throws to first. The player on first base makes a stretch from the base, makes the catch, and then comes up throwing to the player on second. The player on second catches the ball, makes a swipe tag at second, and then fires the ball home. As soon as the balls reaches home, the coach hits another grounder to the player at third and the players that we involved in the previous drill rotate as quickly as possible in a clockwise rotation.

The players have a contest with themselves to see how many drills they can have in a row with perfect execution (no bad throws, dropped balls, etc.) Performed correctly, the players can enjoy this very fast-paced drill.
